FAQ #1: Uninstalling Previous versions of GD ?

Question
:
Should I uninstall previous versions of GD prior to installing Garment Designer v2.5?

Answer:
We highly recommend that after you copy over any custom files (such as your Custom Sizes (sloper files)), remove the old version, (by simply deleting it) as conflicts can occur with future installations of Style sets, Totes and other add-ons, software updates, etc.

FAQ #2: I didn't receive a serial number with my upgrade?
Question:
I didn't recieve a serial number with my upgrade. Why?

Answer:
Your Garment Designer serial number is always the same, so you will need to make a note of your old serial number in your new documentation.

If you feel you have already registered your Garment Designer online - this is not the case. The only way to register your Garment Designer is by either mailing in your Registration Card, or emailing us all the information requested on your Registration Card. Title your email 'Garment Designer Registration.'

FAQ #3: How does the USB Key (dongle) work?
Question:
How does the USB Key (dongle) work?

Answer:
Everything that you need to install the software is on the CD - no phone calls required. You can install the program on multiple PERSONAL (only yours) computers, But it will only run on the computer that has the USB Key (dongle) plugged in.

FAQ #4: How do I know which version I have in order to upgrade?
Question:
How do I know which version I have in order to upgrade?

Answer:
The version number is under the Help menu in your Garment Designer software - click on Help - click on About Garment Designer and it will tell you the version number.

If your software is not currently running the next best place to find it is on the CD. If you have version 1 - it will not have a number it will just say Garment Designer - and have a copyright date of 2001 or 2002.

The Garment Designer 2.0 CD's are labeled 'Garment Designer 2.0'.

Garment Designer 2.1 - Is labeled 'Garment Designer 2' - no decimal as this might be version 2.1.1 or 2.1.3. You can find out which version it is by putting the CD in the computer and reading the name of the installer file on the CD.

You will need to show proof of which version you currently own before you upgrade order is processed. You can find upgrade prices here: http://www.cochenille.com/garm.html#price

FAQ #5: What is a Run time error?
Question:
What is a Run Time error?

Answer:
Garment Designer version 2.5 requires a HASP key to be properly installed in order to run.

For Windows this may mean that you have not yet installed the Runtime drivers that are in a folder on your CD, or your HASP key is not in the USB port all the way in. If you have checked both these items and still have problems please email us at techsupport@cochenille.com

For Mac - Only Garment Designer 2.5.1 and above is OS 10.6 compatible - if you have upgraded your Mac's Operating system and you have GD 2.1.3 or GD 2.5 you will need to call and make arrangements to recieve GD 2.5.1 or above there may be a minimal charge to cover the CD and shipping. You can also check the upgrade's page to see if there is an upgrade charge. http://www.cochenille.com/garm.html#price

You can always make sure to check that you have the newest HASP RTE Drivers on there website: http://www.aladdin.com/support/hasp-srm/enduser.aspx

When downloading drivers make sure that you download the GUI installation and NOT the command line installation.
