Additions Menu Overview

Functions in the Additions menu pertain to items one adds to a pattern piece, such as bands, facings, extensions, hems, and seam allowances. The commands you see in this menu will vary according to the mode you are in. Once again, as you read through this section, look for the mode symbol to determine if a given menu item pertains to your design mode (Sew, Knit or Universal).

Prior to discussing how the various additions work, it is important that you understand how Garment Designer uses color to display garment lines versus addition lines. The general rule of thumb is that the outer garment/pattern lines are always displayed in black. Prior to an ‘addition’, the garment is drawn in black. Once you choose an addition, a new color is introduced to show you the placement of the addition in relation to the original garment. When an addition is applied, Designer will extend or back off from the original black garment line according to how the garment/ pattern needs to adjust. The following explains how colors are used in relation to the black garment outline.
