Full Hip Circumference
Determine where the fullest part of your hips sits on your body. This will vary greatly from person to person, and will depend on your tummy, buttock and thigh shape. Some people are very low set, and thus will measure their hip at a different place than those who have large tummies. Fitted Skirts will need to hang straight from your hipline. If you do not measure your hips at your fullest point, then the skirt will stress if it continues down and encounters a larger body than it expected to find. When you take your hip circumference measurement, mark on your body with a pin or a water-soluble pen the level at which this occurred. You will reference this later.
- Place the measuring tape around your fullest hip area.
- Ensure that the tape is parallel to the floor.
- Record the measurement.
Refined Fit: Use the Measuring Tip discussed previously and record the Front versus Back measurements. Ensure that the measurements add up to the same total you get with the measuring tape.
