Garment Pieces (Display Menu)

This command allows you to control which pattern pieces you see on the screen. When you choose this function a dialog window opens. In it, you will see various garment parts, and a series of check boxes. You can choose to view and work with any combination of Front, Back, Left and Right Sleeves. You may also choose how you want the pieces displayed. Garment Designer's screen is divided into 'panels' one for each pattern piece. When you have all parts of a pattern displayed, you will have a front, back and left and right sleeve panels. The garment will be relatively small in order for you to see everything.
 
Left - This option displays the garment's left side. Initially, you will think that it is the right side, but realize that 'left' refers to the garment’s left side, as you are wearing it. Visualize yourself sitting inside the garment when you choose the left vs. right side.
 
Right - This option displays the garment's right side as you are wearing it.
 
Independent- This option shows you two separate pieces, left and right. The pieces never touch or overlap. This mode would be used for garments that open up the front/back and for garments that will become different on the left vs. right (such as an asymmetrical style).
 
Adjacent- This option allows the left and right pieces of a garment to align on Center. If the garment is asymmetrical, you will see how the overlap works. If the garment ends at center, the two sides will meet at the center. You will see both sides displayed with a black dividing line at the center of the piece.
 
Joined - This option displays both sides of the garment in a joined mode, thus you do not have a dividing line up the center of the piece. When you select point in joined mode, you must be aware of the fact that there are two center points, and as you select the center point with Symmetry on, both points become selected and thus they fade in color slightly.
