Tweaking the Fit

Currently, you cannot adjust the sloper by clicking and dragging on it. Rather, you must check your body measurements and your preferences for fit. The following is a checklist of areas to consider to change the fit of a garment:

  • Adjust a body measurement.
  • Adjust the ‘ease’ in a garment (by changing styles or changing the ease setting in the Garment command/dialog of the Options menu).
  • Adjust the armhole depth of the garment (by changing styles or changing the armhole depth setting in the Garment command/dialog of the Options menu).
  • Adjust the dart width/length/angle.

Keep in Mind...
Although it would be nice, it is a reality that the first test fit garment will not likely be a perfect fit. Expect to work with your measurements and style preferences somewhat to achieve a sloper that results in great fitting garments. It is wise to test the style of garment you typically wear. Thus, if you never wear very fitted clothing, don't test this style.

This completes the discussion of the Garment Designer's Sloper. Investing the time to get accurate sloper measurements will pay off again and again, each time you make a pattern.

Note
When you first open the Sloper dialog, the first field is already highlighted. Tabbing through will move you from field to field and each one is highlighted (and ready to receive information) as you enter into it. You do not need to double-click in a field to begin editing if it is already highlighted.
